10 WEEKS OF PURE ADVENTURE!

 

Week 1: June 3 – 7 Reptile Round-Up!

2019 Kicks off our “NEW” Reptile World! Children get to catch lizards, Geckos, Snakes (non-poisonous), TURTLES and place them in our 3 new viewing pavilions. Experience holding & learning about the reptiles you & others find each day! This themed week will include Picture Books on reptiles/ Discussion Times, Games & making your favorite reptile craft. Join us in THE GREAT OUTDOORS as we traverse the 11 acre campus looking for God’s amazing incredible creation…REPTILES!


Week 2: June 10-14 Airsoft Week!

OUR 2nd Airsoft week at Camp Good News! For 1 hour a day learn the ins and outs of Airsoft – including safety procedures and “battle tactics,” then PLAY some awesome games! We are very excited to kick off our week with a special 30 min safety program & gun handling. Ages 9-12 will participate in Airsoft. Ages 5-8 will participate in Nerf Gun matches. Wrap Around Safety Glasses 9-12 & Clear safety glasses for 5-8. Week 3: June 17 – 21 Grand Prix Derby!

Customize your own wooden Grand Prix racing car and win prizes for racing times and design! 1st, 2nd & 3rd place ribbons & prizes will be awarded in each age group.   ($10 fee covers the cost of car/sandpaper/paint/shipping.)

*Snakes Alive!" Jerry Walls from Amazing Animals will be coming to Camp Good News for a 1-hour session. This will prove to be a great time of seeing, touching & learning about God's creation, the snake. (Tuesday, June 18th 10-11am) $3.00 ea.


Week 4: June 24 – 28 Archery - Simplified Basic Course! 

Trained archery instructors teach your child basic safety skills & shooting skills (45 min a day) while having fun!  We will end the week with a 5-8 yr. & 9-12 yr. boys and girls tournament. Ribbons for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in each group. 


Week 5:  July 1 – 3  A Class Act! (OFF Thursday & Friday for Independence days) 

Campers will have three super packed days of lights, camera and action!! Campers can be actors, set designers, costume designers, sound effect technicians and more!! And, of course, the play will be all about having FUN IN THE SUN and getting ready for an awesome Fourth of July! *Parents welcome to join us on July 3rd at 3:30 pm for the short production.


Week 6: July 8 – 12 Laser Tag! 

K & R Tactical Laser Tag is bringing out some of the best laser tag equipment in the world! Children 6 -12 yrs. will experience 4 days of safe competition and a variety of games of individual & team matches. DON’T MISS THIS GREAT WEEK!  Children will be divided into 2 age groups 6-8 & 9-12. Each group gets 1 hour of play ea. day for 4 days. ($20.00 per child 6 and up) 


Week 7: July 15 – 19 Knights, Castles & Princesses!

Back by Popular Demand! This week we’ll explore the Middle Ages and the time of Knights, Kings, Castles, Lords, Ladies and Princesses.  We’ll learn about how we can be modern day knights and princesses as we serve the One and Only True King, Jesus!  We’ll Joust and Feast and Learn Honor and Faithfulness. Our Knights of Honor competition (4 on 4 noodle sword square off) is a hit! 

***Field Trip to Ravine Gardens in Palatka. We will be eating lunch picnic style at their Pavilion. Parents, children are still required to bring their own lunch. Please include Fork, Spoon, Napkin, Bowl, Juice/Water etc. so that your child will have a successful lunch! (No MICROWAVE available) We will provide a 10 gal container of ice water. (Field Trip $ 4.00 per child).


Week 8: July 22 – 26 Big Catch Wins Again!

Spend a week of summer learning how to cast a line, baiting a hook, scaling a fish & fishing.  Children will have the opportunity to use our Jon Boats with trolling motors & canoes. Those who participate receive a free fishing pole from the Fish Florida Program. Big Catch Wins contest throughout the week. Special Prize for the biggest catch!


Week 9: July 29 – Aug 2 Good News Games!

One of our favorite weeks at Camp Good News! Compete in the Good News Games as we challenge your physical ability and mental prowess!  All campers will be divided into 4 teams to compete for the GOLD (1 hr. per day event) 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th place wooden medallions will be given out. The competition is on... don’t miss out, it’s a blast!


Week 10: August 5 – 9 Great Bake Off!

Muffin making, cookie, and cupcake decorations, French bread, and Pizza crust - this week will be sweet and competitive!  Experienced Baker and Bread Maker Cheri Westbrooks, will lead teams of junior bakers in the kitchen to compete (and eat).  A week-long of fun team building and learning experiences for all participants.   ($10 per child fee)

Our Counselors & Assistants
The counseling staff at Camp Good News is comprised of young men women and youth who love Jesus and love hanging out with kids! Our counselors are trained and prepared to minister to your children in a safe and godly manner! Each age group consist of (1) leader and (1) or more assistants depending on size and age of the group. All lifeguards, (1) at our lakefront for each group swimming are certified. We follow and adhere to the standards set by the Department of Children and Families. Not only are our campers cared for and ministered to during the summer, but we love and care for our counseling staff as well! We know that happy counselors make for a better experience for your camper! Counselors along with fun activities have group worship/devotions in the morning and the evenings

Our Daily Schedule
Each week at CGN your child will experience a theme throughout a Daily Structured Schedule: (SEE 10 Weeks Of Pure Fun) Although our weekly theme changes our daily schedule does not. We believe that structure helps children feel more comfortable & grounded.


Opening Assembly  A fun and quick interactive (indoor/outdoor) opening session to gets the blood pumping! It's really fun.

Flag Raising

Flag Raising/Prayer We start the day out right! We salute the American and Christian flag and pray for our day at camp.

Group Devotional

Each group divides up into a personal devotion time tailored to each age group. This is a very special time of learning and growth for the campers.

Activity Time

...Is our morning “Big” group game time. This is held outdoors and varies from day to day. Man Hunt, Capture the Flag, Relays, Tug of War, Soccer, Kick Ball, Gator Ball, Fishy Fishy, Dodge Ball, Water Games to name a few. It’s a great work-out and a whole lot of fun.

Bible Time 

We have a new engaging Bible teacher each week throughout the summer who brings the Bible to life for our campers. Bible time consist of songs, memory verse and the lesson for the day. Picture cards/PowerPoint are just a few ways the lessons are presented.  The gospel is given at the end of each session.

LUNCH

Children gather to enjoy lunch with their friends and counselors. (Campers bring their own lunch, juice or water, paper plate, bowl, spoon, fork, napkin)

Lake-Front Time

...Is absolutely a camper favorite! Campers can enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and sliding down the water-slide, all under the supervision of our certified lifeguard(s). Boys and Girls swim separately. 

(1 hr. daily)


Oak Hall Games/Outside Station

 Each group takes a tour through Oak Hall every day. This ½ hour cool down station includes: Air hockey, Foosball, Lego building center, Basketball toss, Carpet ball, Hot Wheels track, checkers, chess, board games, and imaginary play. The time goes FAST in Oak!
 

Outside Stations

An fast paced outdoor time - Adventure-land, Bike Trail, Basketball Court, Gaga Ball, 4 Square, Outdoor Human Foosball, Playground, Tree Swings, Oak Hall Games and Good News Gulch Western Town. Also, the children will experience “SPECIALS” such as “Slip N Slide,” “Reptile Round Up” “Scavenger Hunts” etc. They are also ½ hour rotations.


Arts/Crafts Center 

Each group travels into the art center once a week to create a beautiful and unique camp craft. (1/2 hr)


Surf Shack Snacks 

Campers visit the Surf Shack and enjoy a cool drink, Ice cream and a sweet or salty snack. Campers can spend up to $2.50 a day (most items cost 1 dollar or less). We also provide a delicious *free snack and ice water. (*For those who forget or do not have canteen money.

Free Snacks vary from day to day.)

Review Game 

 A fun and interactive end of the day game from our Bible lesson time. Counselors Q & A  kids for team points. It's a BLAST!

Single Day: $30.00

Bus Transportation: $15.00 per week ($3.00 a day)


Extended Care for parents dropping children off/picking up late at our CAMP GOOD NEWS Campus: 

7am-8:45am $5.00 a day

4:30-6pm $5.00 a day
