Our Counselor In Training (CIT) program is the step in between being a camper and summer staff and is the lead up to the Discipleship Leadership Program. This is a 2-year program designed to develop campers entering Grades 8 and 9 into confident, compassionate leaders. Our Counselors-in-Training (CITs) learn how to harness their own innate leadership qualities as well as new skills that will help them take on meaningful roles at camp, at home, at school, and in their communities. There will be times for recreation and fun, times for learning and mentoring and times for helping.
This program runs from 7:45am - 4:30pm, it is not overnight. Runs concurrent with Summer Camp
There is an application process for the Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program. Admission to the CIT program is limited and acceptance is not guaranteed. Applicants must be entering the 8th grade for year one and the 9th grade for year two. Applicants must attend a minimum of 4 weeks each year. Those who can make longer commitments and those who attended at least 4 weeks the previous summer may receive priority in acceptance to the program this year. Applicants must also be available for some online training calls via Discord platform prior to camp starting.
Applicants will need to fill out an application form and interview with the Camp Coordinators. Filling out an application form starts the process, but does not guarantee you will be accepted. You will not be charged until accepted. Deadline to Apply is April 30th, 2024
The CIT program is $100 a week if it is your first year as a CIT at Camp Good News and $50 a week if it is your 2nd year as a CIT at Camp Good News. This includes breakfast (if arrive by 7:45) and lunch
